Product and Variants
What is UltimateSensor Mini v2?
UltimateSensor Mini v2 is the compact ESP32-C6 room sensor for Home Assistant. It focuses on air quality, climate and presence detection without voice assistant hardware.
Does Mini v2 have microphone or speaker?
No. Mini v2 has no microphone, speaker, media player, voice assistant pipeline or local wake word. Choose regular UltimateSensor v2 if you need those features.
Does Mini v2 have PIR?
No. Mini v2 uses mmWave radar only. The regular UltimateSensor v2 adds a PIR sensor for fast first motion triggers.
Does Mini v2 have a barometric pressure sensor?
No. Mini v2 does not include barometric pressure entities.
What is the difference between Basic and Complete firmware?
| Name | Webshop Variant | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Without SPS30 | All standard Mini v2 sensors, no particulate matter module |
| Complete | With SPS30 | Standard Mini v2 sensors plus SPS30 particulate matter |
Can I add SPS30 later?
Yes. If you add the SPS30 module later, switch to the matching Complete firmware.
Sensors
Which sensors are included?
Mini v2 includes:
- SCD41 for CO2, temperature and humidity.
- SGP41 for VOC and NOx index.
- BH1750 for illuminance.
- HLK-LD2412 for sensitive presence and still detection.
- HLK-LD2450 for zones and target tracking on standard hardware.
- Optional HLK-LD2460 upgrade as a physical replacement for LD2450.
- Optional SPS30 for particulate matter.
What is LD2412 used for?
LD2412 is used for reliable occupancy, moving target and still target detection. It is the best sensor for knowing whether someone is still in the room.
What is LD2450 used for?
LD2450 is the standard tracking radar. It adds target coordinates, zones and multi-target style tracking. Use it for areas such as desk, couch, bed or doorway zones.
What is LD2460 used for?
LD2460 is an optional tracking radar upgrade. It physically replaces the LD2450 module and requires the matching *-ld2460.yaml firmware. LD2412 stays installed as the sensitive presence fallback. LD2460 exposes target 1-5 X/Y/Distance/Angle entities and shared Room Designer polygon and exclusion zones, but not the LD2450-specific zone, speed or resolution entities.
Can Mini v2 detect through walls?
Yes, 24 GHz mmWave can detect through thin walls and some materials. Lower LD2412 Maximum Distance Gate and tighten LD2450 zones. With LD2460, reduce the hardware detection sector and tighten the shared Room Designer polygon or exclusion zones.
Can it detect pets?
It can detect pets if they are in the radar field. Reduce range or adjust zones to reduce pet triggers.
Air Quality
How accurate is CO2?
The SCD41 measures 400-5000 ppm and is suitable for ventilation automations. For best results, run manual fresh-air calibration when needed.
What can I do with VOC and NOx?
Use VOC and NOx as trend indexes for air-quality changes from cooking, cleaning products, poor ventilation or outdoor pollution. They are not direct ppm values.
What can I do with SPS30?
With SPS30 installed, you can monitor particulate matter such as PM2.5 and PM10, trigger air purifier automations or show air-quality alerts.
Connectivity
Does Mini v2 support Ethernet and PoE?
Yes. Mini v2 supports WiFi, Ethernet and PoE when using the matching firmware and hardware connection.
Does Mini v2 support Thread?
Yes, with the Thread firmware, which you build yourself with the ESPHome Device Builder. The sensor then connects directly to Home Assistant through a Thread border router. The first installation is over USB, and the SmartHomeShop App works over WiFi or Ethernet, not over Thread. See Connect via Thread.
What is the WiFi fallback password?
The fallback SSID/password is:
- SSID:
ultimatesensor-mini(older firmware:ultimatesensor-mini-v2) - Password: the same as the SSID
Does it require internet?
No. Mini v2 works locally with Home Assistant through ESPHome.
Setup and Tuning
Why does it always show occupied?
Run LD2412 Dynamic Background Correction with the room empty, lower the maximum distance gate and tighten the active radar zones. With LD2460, also verify mounting height, angle and the hardware detection sector. See Calibration.
Why are my zones wrong?
LD2450 zones use X/Y boundaries in millimeters. Walk through the room while watching target X/Y values, then set zone boundaries around the area you actually want. LD2460 firmware uses its target X/Y/Distance/Angle entities with the shared Room Designer polygon and exclusion zones described in the LD2460 Upgrade Guide.
Where should I place it?
Place or mount it where the front faces the area you want to monitor. Avoid direct sunlight, radiators, strong airflow and thin walls behind the target area.
