Automatic LED Lighting
UltimateSensor Mini v2 has three RGB status LEDs. The firmware can use them as a white motion light, a warm night light, and a visual CO2 warning. These functions are available in WiFi, Ethernet, and Thread local firmware and in SmartHomeShop App cloud firmware.
This page applies to UltimateSensor Mini v2. Mini v1 does not support this automatic LED configuration.
Automatic LED lighting is disabled by default. The master switch and every individual function must be enabled explicitly. Saved settings are restored after a restart and normal firmware update.
Available Functions
| Function | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Motion Light | Turns the three RGB LEDs white while motion or applicable tracking presence is detected |
| Night Light | Uses a warm orange light while the room is occupied during the configured night window |
| CO2 warning | Flashes orange three times when the warning threshold is reached |
| Critical CO2 alert | Flashes red three times when the critical threshold is reached |
CO2 alerts are not continuous. They repeat only after the configured cooldown. An increase from warning to critical can trigger a new alert immediately.
Motion Detection
Mini v2 has no PIR sensor. The motion light therefore uses:
- an LD2412 moving target;
- an LD2450 moving target in standard firmware;
- LD2460 presence in an LD2460 upgrade variant.
The LD2460 does not classify targets as moving or still. For that reason, an LD2460 presence detection is treated as motion for the light.
The night light uses the combined Occupancy state from the LD2412 and installed tracking radar. When Motion Light is enabled and motion is active, Motion Light has priority over Night Light.
LED Priority
The firmware uses one LED controller so the functions do not fight each other:
- Critical CO2 alert.
- High CO2 warning.
- Motion Light.
- Night Light.
- No active condition: RGB LEDs off.
The separate single-color ESP status LED remains responsible for ESPHome connection status.
Settings and Defaults
| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| Automatic LED Lighting | Off |
| Motion Light | Off |
| Motion Light Brightness | 70% |
| Night Light | Off |
| Night Light Brightness | 10% |
| Night Light Start Hour | 22:00 |
| Night Light End Hour | 07:00 |
| CO2 LED Warning | Off |
| CO2 Warning Threshold | 1000 ppm |
| CO2 Critical Threshold | 1500 ppm |
| CO2 Alert Cooldown | 5 minutes |
When the start and end hour are equal, the night window is active all day. Both Basic and Complete firmware include the SCD41 CO2 sensor; Complete only adds the SPS30 particulate-matter module.
Configure the LEDs
Local Home Assistant firmware
Open the UltimateSensor Mini v2 device in Home Assistant. The switches and numbers listed above are available as ESPHome configuration entities. This also applies to local Thread firmware.
SmartHomeShop App cloud firmware
Open the device settings in the SmartHomeShop App and use the Status LED section. The device downloads the configuration, stores it locally, and reports whether that version was applied.
The SmartHomeShop App settings require a v2 cloud firmware version that supports device configuration. Local firmware is configured through Home Assistant instead.
Troubleshooting
If the RGB LEDs do not respond:
- Confirm Automatic LED Lighting is enabled.
- Enable the individual Motion Light, Night Light, or CO2 LED Warning function.
- Check the relevant moving-target, occupancy, or CO2 entity for a valid state.
- For Night Light, check that the device has synchronized time and the current hour is inside the configured window. Mini v2 uses the time from Home Assistant, with public NTP servers as fallback.
- For cloud firmware, check the configuration status in the SmartHomeShop App.
