LED Lighting

Every CeilSense variant includes the 16-LED RGB status ring. The available behavior depends on the sensors installed in the device:

Device capability Available LED behavior
Presence radar Motion light and night light
SCD41 CO2 sensor CO2 warning and critical alerts
No radar or SCD41 Manual LED control and startup status only

Automatic LED lighting is disabled by default. A firmware update will not intentionally enable Motion Light, Night Light, or CO2 alerts. Enable the functions explicitly in Home Assistant or SmartHomeShop Cloud when you want to use them. Previously saved user settings are preserved.

LED Priority

The firmware uses one LED state machine so separate automations do not fight over the ring. The priority is:

  1. Critical CO2 alert: three red flashes.
  2. High CO2 warning: three orange flashes.
  3. Moving target: motion light at the configured brightness.
  4. Still presence during night hours: night light at the configured brightness.
  5. No active condition: LED off.

Motion light uses the radar's Moving Target state. Night light requires presence, no moving target, and a time inside the configured night window. If the start and end hour are equal, the night window is treated as active all day.

CO2 alerts are intentionally not continuous. The LED flashes three times when the threshold is reached and repeats only after the configured cooldown. A critical alert uses red; a warning uses orange. A new critical level can trigger immediately when the severity increases.

Settings

On local firmware, the following settings are device controls in Home Assistant. On cloud firmware you set them in the SmartHomeShop App:

  • LED Lighting
  • Motion Light and brightness
  • Night Light, brightness, start hour, and end hour
  • CO2 LED Warning
  • CO2 warning and critical thresholds
  • CO2 alert cooldown

A variant only shows settings supported by its hardware. Basic devices without an SCD41, for example, do not show CO2 controls.

Troubleshooting

If the LED does not respond:

  1. Confirm LED Lighting is enabled.
  2. For motion light, confirm the device exposes and detects Moving Target, not only Presence.
  3. For night light, confirm the device has synchronized time and that the current hour is inside the configured night window.
  4. For CO2 alerts, confirm the device is a Complete variant with an SCD41 and wait for a valid CO2 reading.
