Version 3.0 Upgrade Guide
Required one-time USB-C update: UltimateSensor Mini v1 firmware 3.0 was released on July 27, 2026. Devices running production firmware 2.42 or older, or the former beta firmware, must install this update once via USB-C. Do not install this migration through Home Assistant or OTA.
After version 3.0 has been installed through USB-C, future firmware updates will work wirelessly again.
What Changes
Version 3.0 moves the Mini v1 firmware from Arduino to ESP-IDF and brings the former beta features into the normal production firmware:
- on-device wake-word detection;
- native LD2450 tracking for up to three people;
- four polygon zones and two exclusion zones;
- two virtual entry lines and people counting;
- embedded start-up audio without an internet download.
Existing rectangular zones are not converted automatically. Save your current zone settings before updating and configure the new polygon zones afterwards.
Before You Start
- Use a USB-C cable that supports data, not a charging-only cable.
- Use Chrome or Edge on a desktop or laptop.
- Note your WiFi details and current zone configuration.
- Check whether your model is Basic or Complete. Complete includes particulate matter measurement.
- Check whether you use local Home Assistant firmware or the SmartHomeShop App cloud firmware.
Install Version 3.0
- Connect the UltimateSensor Mini v1 directly to your computer with the USB-C cable.
- Open smarthomeshop.io/en/firmware in Chrome or Edge.
- Select UltimateSensor Mini with hardware version V1, not V2 and not V1 beta firmware.
- Select Basic without particulate matter measurement or Complete with particulate matter measurement.
- Select the local Home Assistant or SmartHomeShop App variant you currently use.
- Start the installation and wait until the website confirms that flashing is complete.
- Reconnect the sensor to WiFi and Home Assistant if required.
- Redraw your tracking zones in the Room Designer of the SmartHomeShop integration, because old rectangular zones are not converted.
A USB-C installation returns the device to its factory settings, including WiFi, zones and offsets.
After the Upgrade
Confirm in Home Assistant that the reported firmware version is 3.0 or newer. You can then configure the polygon zones, exclusion zones, entry lines, people counting and local wake word. Also check your Home Assistant automations and dashboards that use zones.
Future releases can be installed through the normal firmware update entity in Home Assistant. Another USB-C installation is not required unless a future release explicitly says so.
