Installation and Adding Devices
Add the SmartHomeShop integration after the product is online in Home Assistant through ESPHome.
Requirements
- a current Home Assistant installation;
- a supported SmartHomeShop product already added through ESPHome;
- administrator access for installing integrations and creating managed automations;
- HACS, or file access for a manual installation.
Install with HACS
SmartHomeShop.io is included in the default HACS store. Adding a custom repository is no longer necessary.
- Open HACS in Home Assistant.
- Search for SmartHomeShop.io.
- Open the integration and select Download.
- Restart Home Assistant completely.
- Go to Settings > Devices & services > Add integration and search for SmartHomeShop.io.
The integration was approved and added to the HACS default repository list on August 1, 2026. HACS notifies you about later releases. Read the release notes before updating an installation that controls energy equipment.
Manual Installation
Download the release and place the smarthomeshop directory in Home Assistant's config/custom_components directory. Restart Home Assistant, then add the integration under Devices & services. Do not copy development source directories or an incomplete download.
Add a Product
- Start the SmartHomeShop.io config flow.
- Select the product.
- Select the matching ESPHome device discovered in Home Assistant.
- For a water product, set the continuous-flow window, the night window and an optional vacation-mode
input_boolean. You can change these later under Configure. - Review the entities that will be created and finish the flow.
- Open the SmartHomeShop.io panel from the sidebar.
After the first product you can link further devices without the config flow: the panel lists every detected SmartHomeShop device, and Link to SmartHomeShop links it with the default leak settings.
The custom integration references the existing ESPHome device. If the device is missing from the selection list, solve its ESPHome connection first.
Updates and Removal
Update through HACS and restart when the release requests it. Before removing the integration, disable managed battery control and review SmartHomeShop-created schedules or automations. Removing the custom integration does not remove the underlying ESPHome device.
