Troubleshooting and Privacy

Troubleshoot from the bottom up: ESPHome device first, SmartHomeShop config entry second, account services last.

Device Does Not Appear During Setup

Confirm that the product is already available under the ESPHome integration and that its entities are loaded. Update the SmartHomeShop integration, restart Home Assistant and retry the config flow with the correct product.

Panel or Cards Are Missing

Perform a full Home Assistant restart after installation or update. Clear the browser cache only after confirming that the backend integration loaded. Check Settings > System > Logs for smarthomeshop errors.

Dynamic Prices Do Not Load

  • choose Enable Smart Energy when the Energy tab says that Smart Energy is disabled;
  • verify that the personal API token has not been revoked;
  • add or activate a contract when the panel reports no active contract;
  • create a new token when access is forbidden; every new token includes price access;
  • check the API base URL if an advanced custom value was entered;
  • confirm Home Assistant can reach the internet and validate TLS;
  • wait for an in-progress background refresh before retrying.

Battery Planner Is Not Ready

Check state of charge, capacity, charge power, discharge power and price connection. The contract must be dynamic. Then inspect every mapped source for unknown or unavailable. A PV forecast is recommended but must use a supported energy or power unit.

Automation Does Not Appear

If a new automation does not show up under Settings > Automations, check that your configuration.yaml contains automation: !include automations.yaml. This is standard on a normal Home Assistant installation.

Duplicate or Stale Entities

Remove obsolete config entries only after identifying which ESPHome device they reference. Reload the current entry and use the entity registry to remove orphaned entities. Do not delete the native ESPHome device merely to clean up a custom card.

Privacy Model

Raw ESPHome measurements stay local unless another integration or cloud firmware sends them elsewhere. The SmartHomeShop integration contacts the SmartHomeShop API only after an account token is configured, and only for prices and contracts. Stored API keys are redacted from diagnostics.

Before sharing logs, remove personal entity names, addresses, coordinates, serial numbers and tokens. Report reproducible integration issues through GitHub; use the Support Portal for account or ownership questions.
