Devices and Firmware
The Devices page is the inventory of hardware linked to your account. Available readings and controls depend on the product and installed firmware.
Cloud and Local Firmware
| Firmware | SmartHomeShop App | Home Assistant | Internet dependency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cloud variant | Yes | Yes, through ESPHome where supported | Required for App synchronization |
| Local variant | No | Yes, through ESPHome | Not required for measurement and control |
| Thread variant | No | Yes, through ESPHome over Thread | Not required for measurement and control |
Thread firmware is available for P1MeterKit V3, WaterMeterKit V3, WaterP1MeterKit V4, WaterFlowKit V2 and UltimateSensor Mini V2. It joins your existing Thread network and works locally with Home Assistant. App and cloud features use the Wi-Fi or Ethernet cloud firmware. The first install goes over USB.
Changing firmware changes where measurements are sent. Read the product firmware instructions before switching and keep a backup of custom settings.
Claiming a Device
Automatic claiming works when the browser uses the same internet connection as the device and the device registered in the last 30 minutes. Manual claiming uses the unique Cloud Device ID, which you can only read from the device web interface or its Home Assistant Cloud Device ID sensor. Either way, a device that already belongs to another account cannot be claimed.
If a used device is already claimed, the previous owner must remove it from their account or Support must verify the ownership transfer. Do not publish a Cloud Device ID in a forum or screenshot.
Device Overview
Each device page can show:
- connection status and the last received measurement;
- live values appropriate to that product;
- measurement graphs and available history;
- assigned location;
- firmware and diagnostic information;
- alert rules for supported measurements.
An offline state means the cloud has not received an update in the last 5 minutes. It does not automatically mean the sensor or its local Home Assistant connection has stopped working.
Device Settings
Open a device and choose Edit. Depending on the product and firmware you can change:
- the name and location;
- Displayed measurements for electricity, water and gas;
- flow sensor names, colours, type and calibration on a WaterFlowKit;
- calibration offsets for temperature, humidity, CO2 and light;
- which sensors store data;
- the Status LED and, on UltimateSensor V2, the Speaker.
The same page shows the installed and latest firmware. Update firmware starts the update at the next sync of the device.
If the device reports cloud: re-pair needed, for example after a full reset or reinstalling its firmware, choose Re-pair device on the same network as the device and restart the device within 30 minutes.
SPS30 Quiet Hours
Complete UltimateSensor V1/V2 and UltimateSensor Mini V1/V2 hardware with an SPS30 has SPS30 Quiet Hours on the Edit page:
| Setting | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Enable quiet hours | Off | Turns the quiet-hour schedule on or off. |
| Quiet from | 22:00 | First quiet hour. |
| Quiet until | 07:00 | First active hour after the quiet period. |
| Pause between measurement cycles | 5 minutes | Continuous, or 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes after a completed measurement cycle. |
The pause is not an exact sampling interval: the SPS30 first warms up and collects stable measurements before the pause starts. A longer pause reduces sound, power use and sensor wear, but brief particulate-matter events may be detected later.
While quiet hours are active, the SPS30 fan and laser stop and particulate measurements are unavailable. Quiet hours take priority over the normal pause; after quiet hours, the selected pause resumes. Equal start and end hours mean the SPS30 stays quiet all day. The hours use the time zone shown on the page and are not converted to your browser time zone. If the PM Sensor master switch is off, it remains off.
The firmware can also offer these settings in Home Assistant. A local change there can stay active until you change the setting in the App again. The page shows what the device last reported.
Naming and Organising Devices
Use names that remain useful in alerts, exports and automations, such as Kitchen CO2 or Main meter. When several locations are available, assign every device to the correct location so filters and summaries remain reliable.
Removing a Device
Removing a device disconnects it from the account. Check whether historical measurements or exports are still needed before confirming. A factory reset or firmware flash by itself does not necessarily remove cloud ownership.
