Overview
Pre-release documentation. CeilSense Pro has not been officially released yet. The design, specifications and firmware can still change until release. Check ceilsense.nl for the current planning.
Not a smoke alarm. CeilSense Pro is not certified to EN 14604 and does not replace a smoke alarm or fire alarm system. Its optical smoke sensing is experimental and provides no life-safety function. Rely on certified smoke alarms for fire safety. Notifications depend on power, networking, firmware and working automations.
Have a different CeilSense? Use the documentation for CeilSense V2, CeilSense Mini or CeilSense V1. The models use different hardware and firmware.
CeilSense Pro is a ceiling sensor for Home Assistant that you mount recessed or on the surface. Its hardware combines mmWave radar, which can see whether someone is in the room even when that person sits still, with sensors for light, air pressure, CO2, temperature, humidity, VOC and NOx. A ring of 16 RGB LEDs, a buzzer, a speaker and a microphone are there for signals, sound and voice control through Home Assistant. It also has experimental optical smoke sensing.
Everything in the CeilSense V2 base is here too, and the climate sensors are built in. The design is the same as the CeilSense Mini, only larger. Hardware Versions compares the models.
Firmware status. The firmware for the final CeilSense Pro is not written yet. Everything on these pages that depends on firmware is planned and not available today. See Firmware.

Options
| Choice | Options |
|---|---|
| Radar | One configuration: LD2412 + LD2450, LD2460 or LD6002B |
| Mounting | Recessed or surface |
| Network | WiFi, or Ethernet with or without PoE |
| Power | 110 to 240 V, PoE or USB-C |
Everything else is built in, including the climate sensors, so there is no SCD41 module to add. Which radar configuration ships as standard is announced at release. See Radar and Sensor Modules.
Optical Smoke Sensing
The optical smoke sensing is an experimental optical aerosol measurement, not a safety function. Its readings may fail to detect smoke and may trigger falsely, and the siren is off by default. Certified smoke alarms remain required: in the Netherlands they are mandatory on every floor of every home. Read Optical Smoke Sensing before you use it.

Local Operation
With local firmware, ESPHome will bring the entities into Home Assistant and your data stays on your network. You need no account or subscription for this.
With supported cloud firmware the device also sends readings to your SmartHomeShop account. Cloud firmware for CeilSense Pro is planned, not published. See SmartHomeShop App.
