Firmware & Software Guide for CeilSense

Recommended: Install or update stock firmware via our flasher: https://smarthomeshop.io/en/firmware?product=ceilsense

• Default: Wi‑Fi build pre‑installed.
• PoE/Ethernet: Flash the Ethernet firmware via the quick start page before using PoE.
• Updates: OTA via ESPHome/Home Assistant.

Reflashing Firmware

There are two ways to (re)flash CeilSense:

1) Adopt in ESPHome (OTA preferred)

1. Open ESPHome in Home Assistant.
2. Use Adopt to add the CeilSense device.
3. Then either:
   • Make changes to the YAML and click Update to deploy OTA, or
   • Simply click Update on the adopted device to reinstall the current configuration.

2) Flash via USB‑C using our website

1. Connect CeilSense via USB‑C.
2. Open the flasher: https://smarthomeshop.io/en/firmware?product=ceilsense
3. Pick the correct variant, click Connect → Install and follow the prompts.

Note: Flashing can reset settings; you may need to re‑adopt the device in Home Assistant.

Update to the latest software (recommended)

You can update CeilSense to the latest official build either via the Update entity in Home Assistant or from the ESPHome Dashboard.

Update via Home Assistant (Update entity)

1. Go to Settings → Devices & Services → Devices → select “CeilSense”.
2. Enable the Update entity (e.g., “CeilSense Firmware”) if disabled.
3. Open the entity → Check for updates → Install. Optionally enable Auto update.
4. The device downloads the firmware from the manifest and reboots. Verify version after reboot.

Update via ESPHome Dashboard

1. Open ESPHome Dashboard → click your CeilSense device.
2. Click Install/Update → choose Wirelessly → follow the prompts.
3. Or click the UPDATE button on the device tile (if shown).

Notes

• Ensure ota: is enabled and the device is online.
• Keep the device powered and within Wi‑Fi range during the update.
