Frames and Compatibility
WallSense is designed for round European back boxes. This page explains which frames fit, which back boxes you can use and in which countries that box is common.
Note: Compatibility is still being worked on. Adapter plates are in development and the exact fit per country and brand is being checked.
The Front
The front of WallSense measures 55 × 55 mm, the outer size of Gira System 55. That is why Gira System 55 fits directly. Frames with a larger opening need an adapter plate that fills the extra space around the front.
Cover Frames

Is your brand or series missing? Share it in Discord, so it can be included in a future adapter plate.
Sharing a Frame
WallSense can share a frame with a switch or socket, for example in a frame between two sockets.
Back Boxes
WallSense mounts on 60 mm screw centers in a round 60 mm back box.
| Measurement | Value |
|---|---|
| Module depth | 26 mm |
| Installation depth with Ethernet/PoE and a bare RJ45 connector without a boot | About 40 mm |
With these depths WallSense also fits shallow round back boxes. An RJ45 plug with a boot needs more depth than the 40 mm above.
Countries
The round 60 mm box is used in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria and France, among others. The same box principle is common across Central, Northern and Southern Europe. The exact fit per country and brand is being checked.
The UK, Ireland and Denmark often use different systems. Rectangular three-module boxes are common in Italy. Separate plates or housings for these markets are being investigated.
Position in the Wall
WallSense sits flush with the wall and faces into the room. It cannot be rotated, so the position of the box decides what the radars can see. Choose a box with a clear view of the area you want to monitor. See the placement advice.
Air Openings
The openings around the housing are for air measurement. Do not block them.
